The Art of Letting Go..

A practice I encourage myself and my one on one clients to engage in is clearing their energy on a daily basis.

When we are moving through the challenges of life it can be easy to shut ourselves down, focus on work or the kids or anything but our own healing, retreat to the tv or phone screen and block out the pain and discomfort.

This is never a lasting solution and usually one that eventually leads us into a corner where the only way out is through and that can be the scariest feeling in the world.

But through does not have to be scary. Through can be healing.

When we learn the daily habit of clearing our energy, releasing the old and making room for the new, we allow ourselves to confront the emotions that overwhelm and seem scary to us.

Trapped emotions (energy in motion = e-motions) can overwhelm us, cause not just mental overwhelm and fatigue but also physical symptoms in our bodies.

Letting these emotions, out is not only the way through to healing but also the foundation of a healthy life balance between our bodies, minds & souls.

Here are just a few simple but effective ways to daily clear your energy and support your emotional wellbeing:

- Journal out the day, the challenges, the triumphs, all of it. Just as the picture your child draws for you contains all the love and emotion they poured into it, so does the act of journaling. Pour it all out onto the page.

- Bathe or shower at the end of your day. Water is an energy conduit that moves energy and cleanses not only our bodies but also our mental and emotional states of being. Let yourself soak in some epsom salts or visualize the stresses of your day going down the drain with the water. Water therapy in any form is a natural remedy for energy clearing.

- Smudging or burning incense. Ancient cultures and practices from all over the world have used plants & herbs to clear spirits (which are energy) away for thousands of years. From the Anglican church, to Native American tribes to Eastern religions, smudging has been known to clear away and cleanse the space within and around us. There is so much science behind the act of smudging that I will leave that for another blog but for the meantime, enjoy incorporating this into your daily practice. Try to find locally sourced, ethically harvested and items produced by indigenous owned businesses. This is a sacred practice and one that deserves all the love and respect we can give it as we benefit from its healing.

- Prayer. Prayer changes things. And prayer does not need to be in relation to any specific religion, practice, ideology or belief system. The God that created the earth and all of us in it is the same energy that flows through you and I and every plant, animal and mineral that inhabits this earth. God is energy. Simply put. All of Biblical scripture, ancient texts and science point to this truth. It also points to the truth that God is love and is here for us and is not against us. However you choose to see “God” or to label it, know that its primary focus is you and your healing, growth and evolution along with everyone and everything in this universe. Connecting to this higher energy through prayer is a direct line to God. When we pray we send out our prayers and intentions into the world and that sets things in motion. Prayer changes things. It mostly changes us as when we pray we connect to God which is the source of all goodness and grace and love in itself.

These are just a few of my top choices of clearing energy as they are all relatively easy to do and can be done anytime, anywhere.

However you choose to practice the art of letting go of old energy and emotions, doing so with intention and love for the greater good of all is the foundation to make this a sacred act.

Holding on is holding back and you have a beautiful life to live.

Let go and let the God in you guide your way.
