Soulful Living

I was asked what this meant a few years ago after I began using this term in my work and on my social media sites.

Soulful living is the act of living from one’s place of strength, joy, wonder, peace and abundance.

The soul does not know fear, stress or anxiety. It is the part within us all that is always calling us forwards through our intuition onto the path most supportive of our growth and ascension.

To live from the soul is to trust that inner knowing completely.

To live from the soul is to let go of the fears, worries, negative self talk and beliefs that we all carry within us and to learn to live in a new more peaceful way with ourselves and with the world.

The soulful life is one filled with all the things you have always dreamed of but never imagined possible for yourself.

And the beautiful thing about the soulful life is that it is always calling us towards itself. It is always available to us and for us. We just need learn how to allow it to unfold within and around us.

We haven’t been taught or shown the way to do this and so the soulful life does not come naturally to most of us but that’s doesn’t mean we cannot choose to embrace it at any moment.

In my professional counselling program we were taught a tool from Adlerian therapy called ‘The Miracle Question’. This tool was useful for helping clients to gain clarity on what their preferred future would look like. The more I began to ask my clients, as well as friends and colleagues, the more I recognized that the majority of people today have no sense of what sparks joy in them, what dreams they hold within their hearts and how to create a life that they love instead of staying caught in the proverbial “rat race” that most of society is imprisoned in today. That might sound harsh, but until you know what lies on the other side, you don’t know.

So ask yourself today “Am I living a soulful life? What would that look like for me?” and be prepared for some beautiful answers to come to you when you choose to connect more with your soul.

Oftentimes spiritual terminology is cast off because it is not understood in layman’s terms so to speak. So when I say “soulful living” I am not referring to merely a select group of “spiritual” people but all of us. We all have the energy of “soul” within us and our journey is really about reconnecting to that part of ourselves so we can live happy, balanced & joyful lives.

Years ago, I was not connected to that part of myself. We always are on some level but we all tend to get in our heads a lot as humans and that affects our ability to align with our highest potential. So I was stuck in the thoughts of who I was, what I was doing and where I was going without allowing myself much joy or peace in my life. When I thought about the life I wanted to live and what that looked and felt like, it felt very unattainable. Like a far off dream of “one days” that I never really believed would come to pass.

And then through a number of fortunate events that landed on my path, I started to follow my bliss a little more often instead of stressing so much, overthinking everything and staying stuck in the ways I had always been used to. I decided, quite simply, to let life in. And while it transformed my life exponentially in every way possible, it also brought me into living a soulful life. One where I know each day that I am living the life I once dreamed of, that I am supported and fully capable of creating even more dreams into my reality and that the stress, anxiety, overthinking and being stuck in old karmic cycles are things of the past version of myself and my life.

The only way to live a more soulful life is to trust that the universe, god, source, your higher self, whatever you believe is always guiding you, is always guiding you. Every step of the way. Even through the dark times. Because it is. It is all a part of the journey. And when you stay open to life in all of its ways, you begin to see things from the view of the soul, or higher consciousness if that resonates more. When we are in that energy we understand that everything we go through serves a higher purpose towards bringing us to deeper levels of strength, joy, wonder, peace and abundance. The sweet times get sweeter and the hard times we accept knowing they contain growth within their challenges for us.

This is the path of the soulful life. The acceptance of all. The reconnection to the light within us all and the understanding that it is all a journey based on love.
